Anonymous asked: I've had an abnormal pap before, but it was from the health department and they acted like it was nothing and didn't need a follow up or anything. This was years ago! But I've had several since then that came back normal. Do I need to go get another one? ~.^
Not necessarily. What gynecologists suggest is whenever you get an abnormal pap they’ll check it out, if they can’t find anything dangerous they’ll just tell you to get another pap the next year. If your pap after is clear then it probably wasn’t an issue and you should just continue to have pap smears every other year. If you come up with another abnormal pap smear then definitely get it checked out and if you get two in a row they’ll probably run some more tests. Other than that, don’t worry abnormal paps can come up for many reasons.
