theaccretion asked: Thanks for having such a rad blog! I wanted to ask what your opinion is on the risks porn actors take who have loads of unprotected sex but are tested regularly as apposed to the general public. Even with being tested regularly there are a lot of risks that aren't normally tested for in the industry. Do you know if there are commonly caught STI's that aren't normally discussed. Thanks!
The main reason why porn actors/companies don’t want to use protection is because there’s less of a damand for protected sex in porn. They think (and they may be right) that it’ll cost them to make the switch. I personally think that the main reason why protected sex isn’t viewed as sexy is because of all the stigma attached and because we don’t show protected sex in media, including porn. I think it’s important to show protected sex in porn (and in non mainstream porn this is happening more often) because eventually people will make the connection that protected sex is sexy too. There is more being talked about from porn starts with STIS (usually the incurable viruses like HIV) and more porn stars are talking about the importance of protected sex. It’s happening slowly but I’m hoping it’ll get better representation.
