Anon: I really like this girl. I am 21 years old and have slept with two different guys, and kinda with one girl, when I was 12. I have always liked women but have been afraid to pursue this feeling. I think this girl might like me back, what should I do? Also I was molested by a man as a child.. sometimes I feel like liking women is all about feeling safe for me..

FYSE: Well first off, although I think it’s important to address how your molestation affects when it comes to attraction to people I try not to put too much into it. I know a few people who feel safer with women because they were abused by men and that’s fine. I firmly believe that attraction is inherent and that it doesn’t matter if part of the attraction is feeling safe. If you really like someone you should pursue it. Just ask her if she’d like to go out some time. It really is that easy, just put yourself out there. If she doesn’t want to that’s okay, but if she does then you’ll feel better for asking.
